More Power! The Theology
When Captain James T. Kirk, of Star Trek fame, was hurrying to a distressed planet, he called upon Engineer Mr. Scott for ‘more power’. Then, Scotty, complaining all the while, kicked the Enterprise into warp speed. Off they went in a blur.
When Tim Allen, as Tim ‘The Toolman’ Taylor in the Home Improvement sit-com, wanted to overcome the resistance of a sticking screw or nut, he applied ‘more power’. Often the extra horsepower created worse problems, however.
But, Jesus applied ‘more power’ to keep the boat from sinking (Mark 4.35-41).
Apostle Peter applied ‘more power’ for healing the paralytic (Acts 3.1-10, 16).
Apostle Paul waited for God’s ‘more power’ in Corinth (1 Corinthians 2.1-5).
There are barriers in business that require ‘more power’. What Source of power should you use to reduce or eliminate the barrier? Can Christian business leaders, even, apply the Name Jesus to solve business problems?
About Maurice Painter
Maurice Painter has been helping executives and their organizations to answer these questions for 50 years. He recognized that the stretch of pursuit was the correct measure of success early in his career. God has implemented the steps of His plan that gave Maurice experience in the four functions of any enterprise: sales & marketing, production & distribution, finance & administration, and planning & governance. The challenges that stretched him include growing a $100,000,000 portfolio of investment securities, leading mergers and acquisitions, and returning four companies to profitability. Now, after obtaining a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership, God is stretching Maurice again into an even greater task, in Kenya. He continues to hear the words of John the Baptist from John 3.27 NLT: “No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven.” What a stretch!
